Who cares if I break!

I had to put this quotation from the prologue to Cretan author Nikos Kazantzakis’ autobiographical novel Report to Greco somewhere in my site.

I read it over 20 years ago and it moved me. In some way it kind of explains my approach to “my art” (forgive the quotes but i still cant say or write these words without feeling awkward/shy/hesitant/etc… and so you don’t think I’m taking myself way too seriously as an “artist”)

As cliche as it may sound but I’m surrendering to it,come what may. I am carried away by the “creative process” and I literally get lost in it sometimes not knowing where it will take me…and I guess I like that…a lot…otherwise I wouldn’t be spending my every waking free minute at my easel…

Three kinds of souls, three prayers:

1] I am a bow in your hands , Lord. Draw me, lest I rot.

2] Do not overdraw me, Lord. I shall break.

3] Overdraw me, Lord, and who cares if I break!
