Silent Skin

Peel the thick silent skin

that clings to me

layer after layer

let me shed the dead silence

that wraps and seals me

scrape the silent scales

that dig into my flesh

as i quietly bleed

drip drip into a bottomless

invisible sink

as i sink whole

into a pool of silence

i choke on the stillness

that drowns me

i long to inhale freely

to breathe life

into my dead silent core

and scream

like a newborn child
